Activity Description

The International Youth Rights Week is a space for reflection and learning about the rights of young people, based on the experience of young people from Catalonia, France, Italy and Portugal, held annually in El Prat de Llobregat, Barcelona, Spain.

It is a space for debate, workshops and youth participation promoted by Fundesplai, which has been running since 2013 with the close partnership of the Youth Foundation which, in turn, has already supported the participation of 110 Portuguese young people who join more than 200 young Europeans, to analyze, learn and defend their rights and responsibilities. In 2021, the International Youth Rights Week takes place between the 4th and 10th of May, in El Prat de Llobregat, Barcelona.

The theme of this exchange is “Migrant, Youth Exchange for Awareness of Immigration”. In this edition 15 young Italians, 15 young Portuguese and 15 young Spanish will participate.

Strategy

Youth Rights Week is an educational, cultural and participatory activity on rights:the right to work, the right to health, the right to political participation, the right to freedom of expression, the right to interculturality and diversity, etc.

It aims to generate and promote opportunities for youth participation and leadership, which encourage active and critical reflection among young people, on the situation of youth rights in Spain, Portugal, and other countries, in Europe and in the world: promoting spaces that make visible strategies and tools that enable the realization of rights, with young people themselves and their experiences as protagonists. All of this in a multilingual and intercultural context that, at the same time, increases European social cohesion.
