Active Citizenship Program and Youth Days

Activity Description

The A(gentes) M_2.0 project has as its primary goal the education for cultural difference, the promotion of the Europe brand among young people, the promotion of active citizenship behaviors, social inclusion and solidarity among young people and the discussion of priority themes among policy makers with a view to reaching conclusions that serve youth policy at national and European level.

The project will be developed in two main moments:

1. Debates and Workshops: an approach centered on rights and duties as citizens, in encouraging active citizenship, where all young people are called to participate. Using non-formal education methodology, 5 debates will be organized at the national level, involving young people and policy makers;

2. “Youth Days: Present and Future4Youth!”: presentation of the results obtained under the moment 1 of Debates and Workshops, based on local and national sharing.

Policy makers will be invited to share their experience in the context of projects that dynamize in their territories, with young people and that, directly or indirectly, promote social, communicational and interpersonal skills that underlie active citizenship behaviors and contribute to their inclusion social and solidarity among young people.

Strategy

1. Cycle of Debates and Workshops: an approach centered on rights and duties as citizens, in encouraging active citizenship, where all young people are called to participate.

Cycle themes: “Youth Mobility”, “Youth and Politics”; “Employment and Education - Work what future?”, “The European Union and Young People” and “Youth and Sustainable Development”. The activity will take place in Cascais, Odemira, Santa Maria da Feira, Viseu and Tavira (a debate/workshop organized in each of the referred municipalities).

2. “Youth Days: Present and Future4Youth”, to be held in Santa Maria da Feira, Portugal.

a) 3 days long;

b) Sharing the results obtained in activity 2;

c) Promotion of workshops, round tables, sessions for sharing good practices and working groups that complement the previous process: youth participation. The 11 domains of the Youth Goals will be explored.
