Our Genesis

On September 25, 1989, the Historic Center of Porto saw the birth of the first private nationwide foundation in Casa da Companhia with the exclusive mission of promoting the integration of young people in active and professional life.

The Fundação da Juventude was born with the support of 21 public and private institutions that believed in the urgency of the existence of a project that qualified young people and prepared them as professionals of excellence for national and international markets. The visionary character of it and the mark of its performance recruited the interest of 21 other institutions that strengthen the group of founders. In addition, few months after the beginning, the Fundação was recognized with public utility, by Minister, Aníbal Cavaco Silva.

This is a Fundação that constitutes itself as a reference of excellence at a national level in the field of Youth. A Fundação that started its activity at its former headquarters, Casa da Companhia, on the well-known Rua das Flores, in Porto, and today (since 2016) with its headquarters at Palácio das Artes - Fábrica de Talentos, also in Porto, in Largo de São Domingos.

Over the years, thousands of young people have benefited from their projects, in the various areas of activity, with a few hundred voluntarily providing services to the Foundation and without whom it would not have been possible to have gone so far.

In 2021, the Foundation celebrates 32 years and is committed to continuing its mission to promote and integrate young people in active and professional life, while forming socially aware citizens. Today, with a renewed image and adapted to the challenges of a technologically modernized era.
